Day 153: So much to update

So this is what I get for not updating my blog in a month: a list of things to write about so long that I am sure to leave something out. As is appropriate (and more interesting), I have much to update about the happenings of two Weebert boys.

Big A is a big kid now. Seriously. He's lost *2* teeth (both on the bottom). It is very sweet in that he is quite certain he can no longer "whistle" because he is missing teeth. I don't have the heart to tell him that he couldn't whistle in the first place (he just makes a whistle-like shriek)... He also started kindergarten on September 6. I'm not sure how it is going quite yet. He seems very overwhelmed with the noise and bustle of the school, but the academics seem a little slow for him. Interesting combination. His teacher seems nice, though. We'll wait and see how things progress. He's having some challenges making friends, which is very strange for Big A. We are going to have a big birthday party, so hopefully some friendships will be forged through that route. His current favorite movie is Mulan, as he likes the fight scenes and wants to become a ninja when he grows up. All in all, he seems to be doing well. He's starting tennis again this week, which seems to be something he enjoys.

Little B is almost not "little" any more -- he weighs a hefty 25 pounds, 9 ounces, and is in the 10th percentile for weight! He is also growing a bit taller, but it seems that he won't be quite as tall as Big A (I'm not going to be as tall as Big A is soon!). He is doing amazing, all things considering. When he's feeling well, he is a force to be reckoned with -- he will happily take on Big A, if he’s feeling snarky. Also, he’s keen to defend our house from all manner of pirates, Huns (thanks to Mulan), and "bad guys." It seems our suburb has a rather significant infestation of "bad guys." He is doing so well communicating – he knows exactly what he wants, and is happy to tell us all about it. Little B also took a big step last week and started his first community parks and recreation class. Little B has been sitting on the sidelines all of his life (unwillingly, I might add -- that boy always fights me so that he can be on the courts with Big A while Big A is at his sports lessons). Well, no more. Unfortunately, now that Little B has the opportunity to be out on the court, he finds that he would rather sit on the bleachers… It took Big A (who was supposed to be sitting on the bleachers) and I all of the class period to convince Little B to come out and play with us. It was pretty funny, despite the frustration.
We are all enjoying the cooler fall weather. Big A said to me last week: “What, today will be a day with no sun and no rain!?! This is the best – day – ever!” OK, he might be a bit dramatic, but reflects the family sentiment.

This week Little B is in his second week of a cycle chemo. It is generally our hardest week, as he starts getting side effects from the chemo. Hopefully this week won’t be so bad.

Grandma Weebert will be coming to visit us next week! We are so excited.
