Day 80: Scanxiety...

Today we had a "routine" MRI for Little B. Unfortunately, none of his MRIs so far have been "routine", so there has been much "scan-anxiety" on the part of G and I this week. Thankfully, Little B is much too young to concern himself with scans and whatnot, which is probably for the best. I am nervous for the future and figuring out how to explain all of this appropriately to him.

Little B tolerated the anesthesia well, which is our initial concern with MRIs. Since Little B is so young, he has to be fully sedated for the MRI. Our oncologist and neurosurgeon get concerned when they have to sedate him – so we do, as well. In any case, we’re really pleased that things went well on the actual mechanics of the MRI itself.

We won’t know the results of the MRI until at least tomorrow. At least now the test is done and the pointy-headed radiologists are left to interpret the results. For the most part, the results of the MRI won’t change our course too much. Unless there has been serious tumor regrowth (in which case we might get bumped to another surgery, which I sincerely doubt, given how well he is doing), we’re still on the chemo course. Hopefully, we get the good news of the tumor shrinking.

BUT, in other good news, LITTLE B IS BACK ON THE WEIGHT CHARTS!!! After being off the charts (and not in the good way) -- in the 0 percentile -- for about a year now, HE'S BACK! The little bubba is in the 1.9th percentile, which rounds handsomely to the 2nd percentile. He now is tipping the scales at 23 big pounds, and is now 2 feet, 9 inches. We're very, very excited. That being said, we're still pushing the calories. We're hoping for an actual bubba, to put some power behind the attitude. ;-)
