September 10: Not... quite... there... yet...
Well, today has not been kind to the Little B. At his GI appointment, we discovered that he's still not gaining weight quickly enough, even with the new formula. We'll follow up with the feeding clinic and see if we can "tweek" things some more. Also, his body might not be ready to gain at the faster rate, so a few more weeks as-is might be just fine.
Little B also lost his tube today due to some surprise vomiting. Unfortunately, this meant a second trip to the doctor's office today. The nurses at Kaiser Sunset were good sports about helping me to get it back in. Have I mentioned lately that I adore Kaiser Permanente? Talk about an amazing health system. I will admit that when we started with them I was quite leery, but they have exceeded my expectations at every turn. No, this is not a paid advertisement. But if they want spokespersons, G and I are ready to sign up for the gig.
So Little B is, however, rocking out the teething (still). There are SIX teeth coming in that poor baby's head right now (including the ones that actually broke through last week). It is ridiculous. I'm assuming that the teething is probably impacting the weight gain, as well, but that is just a guess. It is certainly impacting everyone's sleeping!
A is rocking out on his sight words (words that he should memorize and read automatically when he sees them, as opposed to spelling them out). We are playing "site word bingo" at home, and he seems to be doing surprisingly well with the site words. He's also reviewing the site word cards that I made him so that he can do better with bingo -- and let's be honest, there are prize associated with him winning (a book for five wins/a toy for ten wins), so there's that motivation. In any case, I'm glad he's enjoying learning, even if the learning is packaged in fun games. G and A have quite a few fun adventures planned for this weekend, so hopefully A will get a little of the stinker out of him -- quality time with Dad always seems to help. ;-)
I will admit I'm ready for a stiff drink after today, but honestly, I think it is more likely that I'm just going to go to bed early. I do dearly love getting a little extra sleep lately (especially with Little B pulling his "I'm going to wake up at 11 pm and stay up until 3 am thing"). And if someone suggests I'm pregnant due to this extra-sleepiness, I'm going to deck them. Really.
