Day 13: Holy Crap. This Stinks.

Well, Little B had his second chemo treatment on Monday. It went ok; we are getting a rhythm down a little bit for the treatment itself. Unfortunately, the following days have gone poorly. We are again spending the weekend at Doernbechers. So frustrating. Little B's chemotherapy drugs tend to have some rather frustrating side effects that keep him from keeping anything down. The poor kid has lost about two pounds this week. To put that in perspective, it is equivalent to a 200 pound adult losing 20 pounds in the course of five days. Not good. He's extremely lethargic and weak. It's hard to see him so thin and weak looking; he was doing so well just 10 days ago. In any case, hopefully the good oncology doctors at Doernbechers will be able to help us manage the issue in the future as well as find a way to put weight back on him. He weighs as much now as he did when he turned one. It's very, very demoralizing and worrying. In any case, not where we wanted to be. I'll keep you updated; hopefully we get the issue under control soon and get Little B home. Mimi and Hea are again saving us by taking care of Big A.

Little B turned two on the 28th. He got a yellow Paper Jamz guitar (just like Big A has!), which he loves. He also had a yellow guitar cake for his family birthday dinner! He really, really likes yellow. And he really, really likes guitars. Two great things, which go great together. Unfortunately, we've had to postpone his weekend birthday party due to the whole Doernbechers stay. Hopefully we can plan to have that soon.
Grandma Weebert just left on Friday after a lovely visit with us. It was wonderful to see her and to be able to spend time with her.

Big A has been busy at school working on a group project regarding squirrels. He learned so much about squirrels, it's rather amazing. His preschool did an amazing job of organizing a handful of four and five year olds into a pretty impressive group!

G and I are bouncing along. It's been a bit rough to remain positive in all this, and to keep some semblance of sanity. Then again, not sure we had a ton of sanity to start with in the first place. On the 26th of May, it will be our 10 year wedding anniversary. Amazing! I'm guessing we'll be doing something amazing for our anniversary.

  1. You guys are amazing! Little B must get that from you. We are praying that the team can work out a good treatment solution for B so he can get back to his upswing. Love you!
