November 13: Gettin' a little excited..
So our family is getting together for Thanksgiving and we're so excited! A and I have been counting down the days using A's preschool calendar. It has been really helpful in counting... and in focusing our efforts to pick up A's room... and in getting our house decorated!
Today A's preschool was closed (it was a "grading" day -- ha!). We had a fun time. A started out by doing some "preschool pages" -- preschool homework. Then we went to Jo-Ann's to get decorations for Thanksgiving. Happily enough, Jo-Ann's had Thanksgiving decorations for 70% off, so we found a few great decorations. We also found an eye patch for A...something he has been looking for for a while now! We found some excellent soap kits so that our guests could have fun surprises when they wash their hands. We also got chocolates so that we could make tasty treats for our guests.
After our Jo-Ann's adventure, we made up the soaps and did a few more preschool pages. Then we had some delicious peanut butter sandwiches for lunch. After lunch, I put B down for a nap, but was so tuckered out myself, I ended up lying down with him. A would have nothing to do with a nap, so we all laid down on the couch. A watched a movie while B and I snored our heads off. After our nap, we all went out in the back yard to play. G came home early, and we did a little yard work.
I made pizza for dinner, then plopped B in a bath (eating is full contact for that kid!). We took a quick walk, which wrapped up our day. I'm working on Christmas presents for A and Cousin R before bed.
B has been really frustrated with eating lately. He seems very bored with baby food and really, really loves graham crackers. He's also big on chowing bananas out of a little net teether. So tonight for dinner, I cut up some bananas and let him go after them on his own. It's a little early to start finger foods, but he's a heck of a lot happier trying to feed himself. I can shovel food in while he's distracted with fishing around for the bananas.
