December 24: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
What a crazy, fun day. Today we woke up early and I took A to the pediatrician's office to have his ears checked. In good news, the infection is gone; he just has residual swelling and inflammation from the infection. Unfortunately, the pediatrician indicated that the pain could last for another 4-6 weeks (good lord!).
In any case, we came home and started making pies. An apple pie (A helped cut the apples) and a pumpkin pie. A did a great job helping.
Then we turned our efforts, and attention, to cookies -- sugar cookies! We made only a single batch, but used itty bitty cookie cutters, so we have a HUGE number of cookies... Oops. We also wrapped Daddy's presents, which hilarious. Explaining the concept of a scotch tape dispenser (hand-held) and wrapping presents to A was a huge trip. Let's just say that Daddy's presents aren't getting unwrapped without a good bit of effort on his part. ;-)
Lunch was interesting. A's not been eating lunch well lately and I thought it might be because he wasn't hungry. Well, the little punk ate four pancakes without looking up, so I'm guessing it's a selective eating thing. Punk.
B was squawking during lunch, so instead of trying to get him to eat baby food, I cut up a piece of lasagna for him on a whim. Oh. My. Stars. The kid LOVES lasagna. OK, A has successfully eaten pasta like twice in his life. B inhaled it. It's so weird that they're so different.
After lunch and everyone had a good two-hour nap, we decided to frost the cookies. Dear god...the horror. I think A may come down from the sugar-high next Thursday. So, when we were frosting cookies, A dropped one on the floor. He shouted gleefully, "Cookie Down!". Then I had to feed B in the living room. A pipes up, "Hey Mom, hows that breastfeeding going? Everything going OK???" Seriously.
Well, we had our traditional Christmas-eve dinner of potato soup, and kielbasa (for Greg). B was again squawking so we gave him potato soup. Again, he LOVED it. It was so cute. He was eating onions, celery and potatoes. Crazy.
A and B took their first full-length bath together since B has been able to sit up. They had a blast. It was so cute to watch B trying to mimick what A would do. Such cute kids!
Once we got the boys to bed, we did some wrapping. Ah, the joys of procrastination.
